Our First Engaged Easter!

I can't believe that in the chaos of the last few weeks I forgot to write about our Easter festivities! Better late than never, I suppose!

When Ben and I realized that he was going to be working on Easter morning, we were so sad that we weren't going to be able to visit his parents to celebrate with them! We always have such a lovely time hanging out with his folks. Realizing this together, Ben asked what sorts of traditions we wanted to have as a couple to mark the occasion. I replied with a vague, "I don't know, I haven't really thought about it" and started planning in secret!

I pretended that my only plans were to make a breakfast bake and French macarons to enjoy after Ben got home mid-day. He said that sounded like a good idea, and set the matter aside.

Not perfect in form, but light and delicious!
Early Easter morning I woke up and started prepping the breakfast bake. I chose a simple recipe with hashbrowns, onions, eggs, bacon, cheese, and biscuits. Oh so delish!

Somewhat...ahem...crispy

I rushed to the store and picked up supplies for an egg hunt and then made a cute little calligraphy card. I donned some bunny ears (that I already owned, oddly enough) and hid candy-filled eggs all around the house. Reeses, Hershey's eggs, and Rolos were our sweet treats this year!

I also thought it would be funny and cute to put some eggs in the fishtanks. Buddy didn't know what to think!

I put together a little Easter display table to welcome Ben home, put on a dress and some jewelry, and made the macarons. Everything was ready to go by the time Ben got home!

He was so surprised and grateful. He said he hadn't seen it coming at all and thought it was one of the very sweetest things I'd ever done for him! He found all of the eggs and we ate together, all smiles and gratitude.

We ended up going for a short hike in Percy Warner park in the late afternoon. It was a beautiful, sunny day: not too hot, not too cold. We had a really lovely, fun, and special day. I'm so glad we have set up some small traditions for ourselves and can't wait to make more with my sweet guy!

Wedding in the Works: Ahead of Schedule

Hey all!

So we are ahead of schedule in planning our wedding in terms of having over 15 months to plan the rest of the shebang! Life has been crazy and progress so far has been slow but only because we are really taking the time to consider and mull over the truly important parts of our big day...

Venue

Signed, Sealed, Delivered! We took our time to weigh our options and found something that was within our budget and so, so special to us. We had to make a few sacrifices to make our particular venue work, but we couldn't be happier with our choice.

Coordinator

Check! I met a planner at The Pink Bride Event a few months ago and immediately clicked with her. Got that locked down right quick!

Officiant

We have an idea of who would we like and are in conversation about it! It's really important to me to have someone that we know officiate the ceremony. So much consideration goes into all of the wedding details... I definitely want this consideration to extend to the person guiding us through our vows!

Catering

We are talking with a local catering company and are putting together a menu! We're playing with many different approaches: a theme, a bunch of small bites, a somewhat-random amalgam of dishes we love... still considering our options!

Photographer

Lots of research being done. Looking for someone with a bright, natural-light aesthetic. Many promising options in a big spreadsheet, I just have to start reaching out!

Overall I'm really excited with what we've got nailed down and in the works so far! Can't wait to continue and share more as we go along!!

Latest in Lettering: Wedding Table Stationary!

Hi All! I am SO excited to announce my most recent lettering project / commission! I'm going to be working on the table-stationary for my cousin's wedding! Place cards, table cards, etc!

Since my cousin reached out to me I have been practicing as much as possible, and trying out some different looks and ideas. I haven't had a table card commission yet, so I threw together a few images and examples this weekend. I've been playing with a few different scripts, although my new Hannah Script (formerly Swirling Script) has been the focus of most of my practice.

I may have been watching The Office this weekend while practicing...
I'm so excited and honored to help out with such a special day! Looking forward to sharing more soon...

Creating a Beautiful Home: The Latest Office / Studio Update

Spring is here and for the first time that I can remember the change of seasons actually made me WANT to do some cleaning up around the house. I decided that in the best way I can do right now (given our home and current budget), I want to create a bright, classic, clean space to come home to. In the past, domestic organization has always been purely functional for me. However, I'm finding more and more that it affects me in a really positive way to come home to a concisely-arranged living space.

I decided to first settle down and work on the office. Ben and I bought some wire bakers racks a few months ago and I've finally figured out a way to organize all of my calligraphy supplies, wedding planning materials, and other crafty things in a way that makes sense. I reorganized and labeled all of the plastic drawers I had: "Tape and Glue," "Paint and Ribbons," "Knick Knacks," "Stamps," "Stencils," "Stickers," etc.

Something that has been so helpful in getting our entire house organized has been gathering lots and lots of containers. I invested in some baskets, recently received some office storage boxes, and dug up some old retail boxes that were pretty enough to put on display: a Kate Spade box, a Laduree macaroon box, etc. Do you think Tiffany's would let me buy a few of their retail boxes too? ;)

One of my most exciting office additions recently has been this adorable little desk! A friend of mine is moving to New York and, knowing my calligraphy obsession, offered it to me last week! It is so quaint and cozy: perfect for my miniature office space!

Having fresh greenery around the house lately has been such a welcoming addition to our home life. It really makes the whole space feel fresh.

I'm so excited to continue with this project all around the house, and I can't wait to continue sharing the results! Until next time! <3
